Electrical Power System Specialist

Shermco Industries, Inc. is a leading provider of electrical testing and maintenance services. We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Power System Specialist to join our team in Nashville, TN.
Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and perform start-up and data collection of low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems.
- Instrument transformer tests
- Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
- Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays
- Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
- Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting
- Low, Medium, and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing
- Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
- Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
- Associate's degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or a EE degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
- NETA Certification (II, III, or IV) or similar desired
- At least 2 or more years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting
- Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerDB a plus
- Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
- Prefer OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training; training on each can be provided by Shermco
- Ability to drive daily locally/regionally, and be available for periodic overnight travel
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening
- Ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 100 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to pass a fit for duty physical exam
- Ability to have a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record
- Ability to be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel
- U.S. passport & TWIC card a plus
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights

- Ability to travel; minimum 40%
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
