Shermco Industries, Inc. is a leading provider of electrical testing and maintenance services. We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Power System Specialist to join our team in Nashville, TN.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and perform start-up and data collection of low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems.
  • Instrument transformer tests
  • Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
  • Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays
  • Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
  • Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting
  • Low, Medium, and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing
  • Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or a EE degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
  • NETA Certification (II, III, or IV) or similar desired
  • At least 2 or more years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting
  • Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerDB a plus
  • Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
  • Prefer OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training; training on each can be provided by Shermco
  • Ability to drive daily locally/regionally, and be available for periodic overnight travel
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
  • All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening
  • Ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 100 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to pass a fit for duty physical exam
  • Ability to have a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record
  • Ability to be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel
  • U.S. passport & TWIC card a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
  • If applying for position, must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer-sponsored visa (work permit)
  • Ability to travel; minimum 40%
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
