Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled auditor to join our Energy Resources program area at the Texas General Land Office. As an auditor, you will play a critical role in ensuring that royalties paid to the State for oil and gas produced on State lands adhere to lease agreements, statutes, rules, and contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform moderately complex auditing work, examining, investigating, and reviewing records such as production, allocation, and sales documents and applicable contracts.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with state statutes and internal regulations.
  • Develop assignment memoranda and techniques for timely completion of audit work and for ensuring efficient and effective use of time.
  • Assist companies with their royalty reporting and payments using the online Royalty Reporting and Control system (RRAC).
Requirements
  • Auditor I: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, geography, geology, petroleum engineering, or related field.
  • Auditor II: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, geology, petroleum engineering, or related field plus one year of progressive experience in governmental, financial, program area, organizational performance, policy, and/or compliance audits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business or accounting.
  • Three years full-time progressive experience participating in governmental, financial, program area, organizational, performance, policy, and/or compliance audits.
