Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Patent Administrator to join our General Counsel division in St. Paul, MN. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our business objectives while ensuring the highest level of legal compliance.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong communication and writing skills to support our Legal Division. You'll be responsible for assisting paralegals and attorneys with legal services, generating and editing legal documents, and representing Abbott externally and internally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with legal services for assigned responsibilities or clients
  • Support the business in achieving business objectives
  • Assist more experienced paralegals and/or attorneys in resolving legal issues on projects involving single disciplines/functional areas within the Legal Division and/or a division within Abbott
  • Knowledge of Abbott's business and client areas supported
  • Generate and edit legal and patent documents at direction of paralegal(s) and attorney(s)
  • Represent Abbott externally to customers, suppliers, competitors, opposing counsel or government agencies with direction and guiding process
  • Represent Legal Division internally to clients
  • Proactively drafts templates for substantive docket items
  • Identifies and coordinates best practices and training/seminars
  • Interacts across all/multiple levels of management

Requirements

  • Associates degree and/or relevant legal education required
  • 2 - 4 years of relevant administrative experience
  • Must have strong communication and writing skills
  • Must have excellent computer skills including experience with document creation and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and work in a team environment requiring collaboration and communication with prioritization and attention to detail

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $33.15-$66.25 per hour, with specific locations potentially varying from this range.
