Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at Kaiser Permanente, you will perform radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. Your expertise will be essential in producing high-quality images that aid in patient care.

Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, you will operate radiographic equipment to produce radiographic recorded images of the body. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body.
  • Determine exposure factors based on height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required.
  • Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patients' bedsides.
  • Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians.
  • Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Orient new staff and train students.

Requirements:

  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
  • Basic Life Support

Additional Requirements:

  • California Mammography Certificate (when required for the position)
  • Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by the employer
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
