About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Correctional Diagnostic Services Specialist to join our team at the State Department of Adult Correction. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide support services to assigned diagnostic centers, resolving complex issues and monitoring production while ensuring compliance with Department policies and procedures. The specialist will also coordinate and administer the Presentence Diagnostic Studies program, chairing committees, writing reports to the court, and consulting with other agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance to diagnostic staff on policy interpretations, training sessions, and research projects.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for case analysts, admission technicians, and behavior specialists.
  • Monitor inventory of psychological test materials, ensure proper ordering, and distribution.
  • Prepare the Diagnostic Services Branch monthly statistical report.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with DNA testing statewide.
  • Coordinate and administer the PSD program, including setting up and scheduling PSD appointments.
Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on their application that they possess all of the following:

  • Thorough knowledge of the diagnostic process.
  • Working knowledge of the policies and procedures as it relates to the diagnostic process.
  • Demonstrated experience to interpret policies, procedures, and laws to diagnostic staff.
  • Demonstrated experience to develop and conduct diagnostic training sessions.
Salary and Benefits

This is a competitive salary position, and the estimated annual salary is $**,***. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.

The Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
