Job Description and Duties

The Research Data Supervisor II is a key member of the Department of Industrial Relations' Research Unit, responsible for supervising research staff and overseeing the publication of the Director's General Prevailing Wage Determinations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement plans for specific assignments, including apprentice determinations and special research projects.
  • Organize the workload and assignments of research staff conducting wage and benefits surveys.
  • Oversee the semiannual publication of the Director's General Prevailing Wage Determinations.
  • Resolve issues and escalate matters related to prevailing wage data management.
  • Identify and report complex prevailing wage matters to the Deputy Chief.
  • Set goals, deadlines, and priorities for the General Prevailing Wage Determination section.
  • Communicate with the Office of Information Services and vendors for systems maintenance or development projects.

Requirements:

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff at all levels.
  • Display good judgment and possess, acquire, and maintain knowledge and skills related to specific tasks and methodologies.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Seek direction where additional expertise is needed.
  • Maintain attendance sufficient to complete tasks and meet regulatory deadlines.

Working Conditions:

The incumbent works in a cubicle environment in an office setting with artificial light and temperature control. The position is located in the San Francisco office in a high-rise building.
