Job Description

HBG Design is seeking an experienced Construction Administration Field Representative to serve as a vital liaison during the construction phase of our projects, effectively bridging communication between the Contractor, the Owner's construction representative, and HBG Design.

This position requires specialized proficiency in effectively planning, organizing, implementing, and reporting pre-construction and construction related tasks. The successful candidate will demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the construction process, client management, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiate and conduct pre-construction meetings with Owner and Contractor.
  • Review and become familiar with the contract documents, including agreements and any supplemental information.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Contractor concerning status of RFIs and submittals.
  • Participate in all Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meetings.
  • Review ASIs with the contractor.
  • Review pay applications, confirming percentage of work completed.
  • Perform site observation visits on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate and communicate any site issues with the Project Architect and consultants.
  • Prepare observations reports (field reports).
  • Support submittal reviews as requested by the Project Architect.
  • Assist in-house CA staff in receiving, logging, and distributing submittals, RFIs, etc.
  • Together with the Project Architect, aid in the review of the final close out documents and distribute to the owner per the contract.
Requirements:
  • 10 years practical experience in contract administration and/or architecture; licensed Architect a plus.
  • Experience in the commercial construction industry, preferably with hospitality experience.
  • Proven experience working directly on construction sites alongside the Owners Representative and Contractors to ensure strict adherence to all contractual guidelines.
  • Experience leading pre-construction meetings and facilitating communication between all members of the team throughout all construction phases.
  • Thorough understanding of the construction process, techniques, materials, and standards and understanding of design and construction documents.
  • Experience with and understanding of AIA documents, particularly conditions of the contract, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, building trades, means and methods.
  • Understanding of building codes and regulations.
  • Able to travel 8-10 days per month, primarily in the western sector of the United States.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
