Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Administrative and Clinical Assistant to join our team at Sparrow Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide administrative and clinical support to physicians and nurses, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures, including escorting them to the exam room, obtaining vital signs, and updating patient information.
  • Assist physicians and nurses with patient procedures as directed, including providing pre-op and post-op medical care to surgical patients.
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner, adhering to hospital policies and regulations.
  • Triage patients, providing information and assistance, scheduling appointments, and notifying appropriate personnel of emergency situations.
  • Schedule patients for surgeries, testing, and appointments with specialists, completing required documentation.
  • Communicate with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to exchange information and obtain necessary referral authorizations.
  • Prepare and clean exam and procedure rooms, restock supplies, and notify appropriate personnel of unsafe conditions and equipment in need of repair.
  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks in support of the department or practice, including obtaining insurance pre-certifications and transporting patients to other areas within the hospital.
Requirements
  • CPR/BCLS certification
  • Course completion of a Medical Assistant program, Armed Forces Medic program, or 6 months documented Medical Assistant experience in a similar clinic setting
  • Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards, hospital policies, and confidentiality and JCAHO mandates
  • Written and computer skills necessary to prepare required documentation
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Mental ability to complete required documentation in a timely manner, deal with concerns and emotional needs of patients and their families, and respond to stressful/emergency situations
  • Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk extensively, transfer/lift/reposition/assist patients, and properly utilize equipment/devices necessary in providing prescribed care to patients
