EPIC Application Analyst Job Description

Job Summary:

The EPIC Application Analyst is responsible for the implementation, support, and maintenance of EPIC applications, upgrades, and modifications. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install and configure EPIC applications, new components, and upgrade existing applications.
  2. Provide go-live and rollout support, as well as support users on EPIC applications, modules, and functionality.
  3. Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, escalating to the vendor if necessary.
  4. Assist in determining how new systems, upgrades, or components can best meet user needs, analyzing business and clinical requirements, evaluating operational workflows, and creating system specifications.
  5. Participate in test plans for systems, version upgrades, and system modifications.
  6. Open tickets for database queries and create reports using a report-writing tool.
  7. Monitor application issues and evaluate them as they arise.
  8. Write and maintain accurate and current documentation regarding EPIC applications supported by the team.
  9. Participate in the maintenance of training materials and disseminate them to users.
  10. Provide timely, effective, and professional customer support, working with the help desk and support personnel to identify and resolve issues.
  11. Analyze necessary application modifications and work with the vendor to coordinate modifications.
  12. Act as a liaison to the vendor for Montefiore IT or the client.
  13. Contact the vendor to report escalations and obtain assistance with solving issues.
  14. Assist with the coordination of vendor activities, including hardware or software installation.
  15. Apply business knowledge to system processes and manipulate data to ensure successful transactions through the system.
  16. Make necessary enhancements to add or maintain functionality of the application, including creating and modifying screens, tables, dictionaries, and rules.
  17. Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of system interfaces, validating and testing system interfaces.
  18. Participate in policy and procedure development as it relates to security, downtime, backup operations, and disaster recovery activities.
  19. Administer application security and access controls.
  20. Provide or coordinate ongoing training for clients in the use of systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • EPIC application implementation, troubleshooting, and support experience required.
  • Application testing experience.
  • Related clinical or business experience.

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment:

May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) database and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS database can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
