Job Title: RN - Med Surg / Telemetry

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for a 13-week assignment in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Compensation Package:

The salary for this position is estimated at $150,000 per year, based on 12-hour shifts and 48 hours per week. Additionally, a tax-free stipend will be provided, amounting to approximately $25,000.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
    • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients, including evaluating vital signs, heart rhythms, and overall condition.
    • Monitor and interpret telemetry data to detect any irregularities in heart rate, rhythm, and other vital parameters.
    • Develop individualized care plans to promote recovery and wellness.
  • Medication Administration and Management:
    • Administer prescribed medications while ensuring proper dosing and timing.
    • Monitor patients for side effects and adverse reactions to medications.
    • Provide pain management interventions and adjust care based on patient response and comfort level.
  • Telemetry and Cardiac Monitoring:
    • Monitor patients with telemetry units to assess heart rate, rhythm, and overall cardiac health.
    • Document and report any irregularities to the medical team.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot telemetry equipment to ensure proper function.
  • Wound Care and Post-Surgical Care:
    • Provide post-operative care for surgical patients.
    • Manage incision sites, drains, and ensure proper wound healing.
    • Administer treatments to manage or prevent complications.
  • Patient Education:
    • Educate patients and their families on disease management and medication regimens.
    • Offer guidance on managing chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
    • Provide education on fall prevention, nutrition, activity restrictions, and discharge planning.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
    • Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers.
    • Participate in daily rounds to discuss patient progress and treatment adjustments.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care.
  • Emergency Response and Critical Care:
    • Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
    • Provide immediate interventions, including CPR and ACLS.
    • Manage patients who experience acute changes in their condition.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all assessments and interventions.
    • Report any changes in patient condition or concerns to the appropriate healthcare provider.
  • Infection Control and Safety:
    • Follow infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections.
    • Ensure patient safety by regularly assessing for fall risks and preventing hospital-acquired infections.
    • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Quality Improvement and Continuing Education:
    • Participate in hospital quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
    • Stay current with the latest nursing practices and patient care protocols.
    • Attend continuing education workshops and certification programs.
