About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatics Scientist or Bioinformatics Research Developer to join our team in San Jose, CA. This full-time position offers an estimated base salary of $162,500 - $172,000 USD, plus additional bonus compensation and benefits.

As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for collecting product requirements and designing and developing NGS analysis pipelines to meet those needs. You will work closely with Product Managers and senior members of the Bioinformatics and R&D teams to understand market trends and competition relevant to products worked on.

Main Responsibilities
  • Analyze NGS data and generate reports, exhibiting good analytical design, data summary, and interpretation, and clear report preparation.
  • Develop bioinformatics packages/pipelines for one or more projects, showcasing good code design and development practice.
  • Work independently and through regular communication with Product Managers and senior members of the Bioinformatics and R&D teams to propose new tools for development based on market analysis.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or a relevant scientific discipline followed by a minimum of 5 to 8 years post-Ph.D. experience in Bioinformatics working in academia or industry.
  • Extensive experience analyzing NGS data sets using industry-standard methods and tools.
  • Professional pipeline development experience with one or more major programming languages such as Python or R under a Linux environment is required.
  • Strong statistical, mathematical, and/or analytical skills as demonstrated by experience with R or Python data science libraries.
