About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Pilates Instructor to join our team at the University Y Student Center in Tacoma, WA.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will lead engaging and challenging Pilates classes for our members. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing full-body workouts that incorporate mat and traditional Pilates equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct safe and educational classes for diverse populations.
  • Design classes to improve flexibility, strength, muscular endurance, and cardio-respiratory conditioning.
  • Demonstrate techniques with varying intensity levels.
  • BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH MEMBERS AND PROVIDE A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.
  • Maintain equipment organization and cleanliness.
  • Assist in compiling program statistics and metrics.
Requirements
  • Minimum one year of experience leading challenging group exercise classes.
  • Knowledge of fitness components in group exercise classes.
  • Certification in Group Exercise or related specialty is preferred.
  • YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning or equivalent certifications (ACE, ACSM, AFAA) are desirable.
  • Positive attitude, diversity awareness, and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • A commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
  • CURRENT CPR FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCUER, FIRST AID, AED, AND OXYGEN CERTIFICATIONS ARE PREFERRED.
  • Must pass background and reference checks.
