On-Call Nurse Position in Ketchikan, Alaska

This is an exciting opportunity to join the State of Alaska team as a Licensed Practical Nurse in our Ketchikan Pioneers' Home. As an on-call nurse, you will play a vital role in providing person-centered care and support to up to forty-five elder residents.
The mission of the Division of Alaska Pioneer Homes is to provide a home and community for elder Alaskans, celebrating life through its final breath. We strive to provide high-quality care to our residents and promote a supportive and caring environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include providing clinical and medication administration to residents, supporting care teams, and promoting assisted living philosophy and statutes. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure that our residents receive the best possible care.
We offer a competitive salary range of $73,000 - $95,000 per year, based on experience, plus benefits such as health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. The position is open to all applicants, and we welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply.
As a successful candidate, you will have considerable knowledge and skill of the principles and practices of nursing, behavior, and needs of patients. You will be able to observe and evaluate reactions and changes in the physical behavioral and mental condition of patients and think quickly in emergencies. You will also develop therapeutic relationships with patients and maintain accurate records.
The ideal candidate will possess a diploma or certificate from an accredited school in practical nursing and eligibility for licensure as a practical nurse with the State of Alaska. Special requirements include physical strength to lift, assist, and transfer patients.
If selected, you will undergo fingerprinting and criminal background check screening, and provide current evidence of being free from active pulmonary tuberculosis. Please note that this position requires working at a 24-hour facility and may involve contact with animals.
