Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and operations of our New Glenn launch vehicle. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that is pushing the boundaries of space exploration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing work instructions to ensure high-quality production of launch vehicle components.
  • Manage quality, build sequence, and schedule for hardware manufacturing processes.
  • Perform engineering drawing impact assessments, reviews, and approvals for manufacturing.
  • Disposition, management, and closure of non-conformance repair and rework activities.
  • Manage hardware configuration and steward build and test pedigrees.
  • Lead efforts to identify, develop, and deploy designs and methodologies that improve operational excellence through quality, cost, design, and process improvements.
  • Support the manufacturing floor in assembly and installation, compliance to engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing.
  • Perform a hands-on engineering and liaison role between our design, test, and operations teams and our manufacturing customers.
  • Investigate root causes, disposition vehicle discrepancies, and take ownership of preventative and corrective actions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 10+ years manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, automotive, or similar.
  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing engineering capacity in one or more of the following areas: Vehicle Integration, Instrumentation, Structures, Harnesses, Fluids systems, Propulsion, Hydraulics Systems, or Avionics.
  • Extensive experience with new product development.
  • Proven ability to mentor manufacturing engineers with less experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership in your area of responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to develop processes compliant with industry quality systems such as AS9100.
  • Customer focused with a proven ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Familiar with applicable industry standards (NAS, ASTM, MIL, etc.).
  • Ability to support scheduled work shift (we may rotate shifts occasionally) and work off-shift (2nd or 3rd shifts), extended hours, and weekends if/when vital.
  • Must be physically able to: support production floor activities; climb stairs and work in small areas; lift and carry 40 lbs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, or similar) from an accredited college or university.
  • Aerospace/Launch vehicle experience.
  • Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: welding, assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, packaging, fabrication, machining, etc.
  • Experience with Production Readiness Reviews.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software and processes.
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes, integration processes, systems engineering practices, test, quality, and configuration management systems.
  • Understanding and applied experiences in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
