Job Overview

Rochester Sensors LLC is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team in Coppell, TX.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year

The ideal candidate will design, develop, and test pressure sensor systems for submersible liquid level applications, focusing on electronic design and firmware development of the sensor components. The successful candidate will ensure their functionality, accuracy, and compatibility with the overall system, collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate the sensor signals into broader sensor systems, and deliver robust, cost-effective designs from conception to production.

Responsibilities
  • Design electronics for pressure sensor mechanisms, including oil-filled pressure buttons, and process signal data to customer-required outputs
  • Analyze sensor performance parameters like pressure accuracy, sensitivity, response time, and power consumption
  • Develop electrical circuits and systems for pressure level sensors, understanding and designing to customer requirements regarding communication and power needs
  • Create test protocols and standards for validation and production
  • Select appropriate components based on requirements such as pressure ranges, temperature conditions, fluid compatibility, and desired durability
  • Built and tested prototype pressure sensors in laboratory environments to validate design concepts and performance characteristics
  • Developed calibration procedures for pressure sensors, ensuring accuracy and repeatability of measurements, and conducted comprehensive testing on sensor prototypes under various environmental conditions and pressure ranges
  • Designed electrical and mechanical interfaces to connect the pressure sensors to overall sensor systems and developed proper signal conditioning and data processing to meet customer requirements
  • Investigated sensor failures during testing, identifying root causes and implementing design improvements
  • Managed projects, following the Rochester APQP development process, developing and executing project schedules, preparing technical documentation, and communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 10 years of experience designing with pressure sensors or related devices
  • Deep understanding of pressure sensor element design and application, strong knowledge of electrical design principles for piezoelectric pressure sensors, and expertise in microcontroller and FPGA-based system design
  • Proficiency in circuit design and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB, SPICE, PROTEUS, ALTIUM), embedded systems, and programming languages (e.g., C, C++)
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and signal processing techniques, engineering analysis tools (FMEA, FEA, CFD, DFM), PCB build, and soldering experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, technical leadership, and strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with embedded firmware development using Microchip, STMicro, or TI Microprocessors
  • Familiarity with signal processing techniques and tools such as MATLAB and LABVIEW, proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for test automation
  • Mechanical design experience, industrial construction, or transportation industry experience
  • High-volume Design for Manufacturability experience and APQP product development processes
