Job SummaryThe Air Force Special Operations Command is seeking a skilled Budget Analyst to join our team. As a Budget Analyst, you will play a critical role in the formulation, execution, and analysis of the organization's budget and funding requirements. Key Responsibilities
Serve as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget/financial issues
Perform budget formulation work involving review and preparation of budget estimates and financial plans
Perform budget execution and administration work involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of funds
Provide advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information and conducts analyses, reviews and special studies of budget and/or related information
Use budgetary and other automated system(s) and computer-generated products in accomplishing budgeting/funding assignments

Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

This is a Financial Management Level 1 Certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, PL 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d. Incumbent shall comply with the requirements of this certification program
A background investigation may be required
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Series 0560. You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include knowledge of commonly used budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, precedents, policies, and other AF, MAJCOM, and installation guides which apply to assigned budget accounts (e.g., organizational components, programs, services, object classes, and/or line items) to perform and advise on budget administration tasks and to identify and refer those reprogramming actions which require prior approval to officials at higher echelons.
Education
Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL. B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. You must submit copies of your college transcripts. Official transcripts are not required at the time of application; however, if position has a positive degree requirement, qualifying based on education alone or in combination with experience, transcripts must be verified prior to appointment. An accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education must accredit education. Click here to check accreditation. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
