Job Description

The Montefiore Senior Nursing Manager is responsible for maintaining high standards of nursing practice, as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and Nursing's Social Policy Statement.

This role actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center. The Senior Nursing Manager participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills.

The Senior Nursing Manager demonstrates core and unit-specific competencies based on the patient population served. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a specialized nursing unit(s) in collaboration with other team members. The focus is on directing and coordinating patient and unit activities in an environment that supports excellence, ensuring the continual delivery of quality patient care, in compliance with MMC policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists the interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of select groups of patients.
  • Participates in educational activities related to the clinical specialty.
  • Participates in clinical research studies.

Requirements:

Education Qualifications

* New York State Registered Professional Nurse License and current registration.

* Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or related field required.

* Master of Science degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

* American Nurses Credentialing Center Certification in Specialty Area desired.

* Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems.

* Effective English communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal).Experience

* Pediatric Critical Care Nursing experience desired.

* Clinical experience 2+ years, in related area required.
