Job Overview

We're seeking an experienced sales professional to join our team as a Senior Energy Efficiency Program Manager. This role will play a critical part in originating and developing innovative energy efficiency projects for commercial and industrial customers. You'll build and maintain strong relationships with customers, prospect new project opportunities, and coordinate with internal teams to develop and pitch project proposals.

This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days in our Denver, CO office every couple of weeks, at least. You must be based in the Denver, CO metro area and willing to commute regularly. Additionally, you'll travel to customer offices and locations in Minneapolis, MN, and other US cities for scheduled meetings, pitches, presentations, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through close collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and present energy efficiency and electrification projects and proposals, ensuring timely development and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead contract presentation, negotiation, and execution.
  • Create and manage sales strategies to achieve or exceed set quotas, including monitoring sales performance and adjusting tactics as needed.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships, providing regular updates and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor industry developments, competitors, market intelligence, and pricing strategies, sharing findings with the wider team.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of sales experience within the utilities or energy industries.
  • Effective relationship-building skills, including a consultative approach to relationship management and meeting preparation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively for different audiences.
  • A self-starter with the initiative and drive to deliver outcomes, as well as a growth mindset to continually improve.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate good judgment and composure in difficult situations and with incomplete information.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, with the ability to switch between contexts quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient financial acumen, including a strong understanding of project economics and energy project financing solutions.
  • Proficient technical acumen, including experience with core technologies such as HVAC, building controls, solar, battery storage, generation, EVSE, or lighting.
  • Experience using pricing tools to model project economics across different contracting structures.
  • Familiarity with the energy services and financing industries, including financing solutions, leases, loans, or as-a-service agreements.
  • Competency in software and cloud-based information management tools, particularly Salesforce, Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or project management tools.
  • Dedication to Sparkfund's mission and a passion for combating climate change.

Salary & Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000-$150,000, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, vision, and dental insurance, disability and life insurance, flexible vacation policy, and observance of all federal holidays. We also provide a one-time work-from-home stipend and a monthly allowance for phone and WiFi expenses.
