The San Diego Community College District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Healthcare Professional II - Patient Care Specialist to join our team.

About the Role:

We are looking for an individual who can provide exceptional patient care services to students requesting assistance from our Student Health Services Office. As a Healthcare Professional II, you will work under the direction of our College Nurse, Health Services Director, or assigned supervisor to deliver high-quality care that meets the needs of our diverse student population.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Perform health screening and testing measures for all eligible students, conduct health assessments, and provide health education tailored to their needs.
  • Emergency Response: Provide first aid and emergency care to patients presenting for treatment, ensuring timely and effective intervention.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications and dispense over-the-counter medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Laboratory Services: Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory specimens for further analysis.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions, health data, and treatment outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Assist nurse practitioners and college physicians as needed, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • Nursing Expertise: A Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a Public Health Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Clinical Experience: Full-time nursing experience, including valid CPR certification for healthcare professionals.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to interact with diverse populations, including adolescents and adults with special health needs.
  • Cultural Competency: Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and classified professionals.

What We Offer:

The San Diego Community College District offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • Salary Range: $62,919 - $83,371 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
  • Tuberculosis Exam: Selected candidates will be required to complete a Tuberculosis exam prior to employment.
  • Live Scan Fingerprinting: Clearances must be received prior to the first day of employment.
