Job Description

Job Summary:

The Mental Health Therapist - Substance Use Treatment Specialist will provide outpatient mental health counseling and substance use treatment to patients within the Carle Addiction Recovery Center, under the direction of a clinical supervisor. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and a passion for working with individuals struggling with addiction and mental health issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide mental health counseling and substance use treatment to patients and their families through individual and/or group settings, using evidence-based techniques and interventions.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health/substance use evaluations, assessing the need for ongoing counseling or other services, and develop treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
  • Work collaboratively with patients to establish and achieve specific goals and objectives, providing ongoing support and guidance throughout the treatment process.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient progress, ensuring compliance with departmental policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and address concerns, making referrals to other treatments as needed, and provide effective communication with referring providers regarding patient diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Foster a safe and confidential environment, adhering to HIPAA, Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code, and Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act standards.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois, upon hire.
  • Combination of education and experience providing therapy and/or substance use treatment in a clinical setting, with prior experience and knowledge of best practices for treating mental health/substance use disorders.
  • Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of current DSM diagnostic criteria, best practices for treatment, and ability to work collaboratively within a clinical setting.
