Material Scientist

Atrium Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Material Scientist to join our client's Product Development group in Essex County, NJ. This is a unique opportunity to work with a collaborative team to create next-generation environmentally conscious products using emerging technology.

• Lead the development of new biomaterials and products, including prototype development, characterization, and process development.
• Perform hands-on laboratory research activities, including imaging and characterization using SEM, spectrophotometers, DSC, FTIR, GC, HPLC, TGA, and ICP.
• Incorporate materials such as bio-engineering materials, carbon-neutral materials, natural polymers, recycled materials, and green compounds to meet goals.
• Maintain equipment in the R&D laboratory and run characterization experiments, including reaction rates, conversion, and density checks.
• Provide formulation and process support and troubleshooting for both current commercial products and products under development at third-party vendors.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related science.
• Minimum of 3 relevant material science industry experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of the company.
• Ability to communicate experiment results and progress to both internal lab members and external processing vendors.
