Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer

Timmons Group is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical and Construction Services Group in Raleigh, NC. The successful candidate will apply learned skills and technical ability to site and building projects by testing earth materials, evaluating their engineering properties, and estimating the materials' response to loading.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work on a variety of engineering consulting projects involving traditional geotechnical engineering analysis and designs for foundations, slope stability, and seepage.
  • Perform geotechnical, civil, and structural engineering designs on project teams.
  • Specify, implement, and interpret soil and rock investigations, including drilling and cone penetrometer testing.
  • Conduct facility inspections, geotechnical computer modeling, and prepare design plans and specifications.
  • Diagnose and evaluate soil-related challenges on construction projects.
Requirements:
  • BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with traditional geotechnical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or ability to obtain PE within one year.
  • Strong technical skills in geotechnical analysis and design.
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and design software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
