Your Role:

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide hands-on support to individuals with varying degrees of mental illness and/or developmental disabilities. This includes assisting with daily living tasks, promoting independence, and engaging in activities that enhance their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Care: Provide one-on-one support to individuals, helping them with daily tasks, personal care, and medication administration.
  • Safety and Health: Monitor and maintain a safe environment, ensuring the health and well-being of individuals in your care.
  • Communication: Interact with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of care.
  • Medication Administration: Safely administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Household Management: Assist with household chores, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean and comfortable living environment.
  • Behavioral Support: De-escalate interfering behavior, using positive reinforcement techniques to promote calm and respectful interactions.
  • Community Involvement: Participate in activities and social experiences within the community, enhancing the quality of life for individuals in your care.
  • Collaboration: Share behavioral, health, and program concerns with supervisors, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
  • Personal Hygiene and Grooming: Support individuals with personal hygiene and grooming, including bathing and toileting.

Requirements:

  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, enabling effective interaction with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Valid Driver's License: Maintain a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, ensuring reliable transportation for work-related tasks.
  • Vehicle Insurance: Ensure vehicle insurance coverage, adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Person-Centered Thinking: Demonstrate knowledge of person-centered thinking and planning principles, applying them to support individuals' unique needs and goals.

Estimated Annual Salary: $35,440 - $43,520
