Capital One is a leader in financial technology, and we're looking for a Sr Distinguished Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on leading our strategy around how APIs are used and protected across Capital One.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to work with a talented group of engineers and technologists who are passionate about delivering innovative solutions. As a Sr Distinguished Engineer, you will be responsible for building awareness, increasing knowledge, and driving adoption of API technologies within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Buiding awareness and driving adoption of API technologies
  • Understanding trends in how leading companies and organizations are using APIs
  • Striking a balance between lending expertise and providing an inclusive environment where others' ideas can be heard and championed
  • Promoting a culture of engineering excellence
  • Effectively communicating with and influencing key stakeholders across the enterprise
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • At least 9 years of experience in hands-on building of software applications
  • At least 5 years of experience building with APIs
  • At least 5 years of experience building transactional systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience working with GraphQL, including routers and resolvers
  • Experience working with commercial API Gateway products, including Apigee, Kong, Axway, Mulesoft
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive compensation package, including a salary range of $340,500 - $388,700 per year, based on location. Additionally, you will be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
