Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for processing and testing specimens, reviewing and reporting lab results, and performing operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.

You will also provide direction to other laboratory staff, including medical laboratory technicians and technologists, and provide input on staff evaluations as requested. Additionally, you will maintain complete and up-to-date procedure manuals, achieve ongoing compliance with regulatory agencies, and complete other duties assigned by the laboratory supervisor or director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and test specimens, review and report lab results
  • Perform operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
  • Provide direction to other laboratory staff, including medical laboratory technicians and technologists
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date procedure manuals
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agencies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology
  • Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire)
  • Ability to perform all duties as required of a Medical Technologist
  • Leadership skills, including demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles with increasing levels of accountability
