Job Summary:
Provides direct and indirect patient care in a hospital, clinic, or home healthcare setting under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
  • Observes, collects, and documents patient information while providing care and reports significant changes to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Provides assistance to patients and their families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
  • Provides care and treatments to patients as outlined in the plan of care, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, and personal care.
  • Provides indirect care to patients and the assigned area, including cleaning, restocking supplies, and transporting patients and supplies.
  • Reinforces teaching given to patients by the registered nurse or physician and documents patient understanding of instructions.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
  • Six (6) months of relevant nursing assistant experience

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Fluent in verbal and written English language
  • Basic computer skills

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position
  • Variable work schedule
  • Onsite work assignment
  • Exempt from overtime
