Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Package Handler Trainer to join our team at FedEx. As a PH Trainer, you will be responsible for training new Package Handlers on loading, unloading, palletizing, and scanning techniques to ensure efficient and safe package movement through our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train new Package Handlers on effective unloading, loading, palletizing, carrying, smalls handling, SWAK, and non-conveyable package handling techniques.
  • Provide training to other Package Handlers who require additional instruction on unloading, carrying, loading, palletizing, smalls handling, SWAK, or non-conveyable package handling techniques.
  • Provide feedback on proper package handling techniques as needed.
  • Reinforce dock safety standards among peer Package Handlers.
  • Understand and demonstrate all necessary processes and procedures.
  • Update managers on conditions during the sort to inform operation efficiency decisions.
  • Assist in implementing new package handling procedures and techniques.
  • Regularly load/unload, palletize, lift, carry, push, and pull packages while training other Package Handlers.
  • Utilize hand-to-surface methods for all package handling.
  • Load and unload packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts, and load gratings.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximately 3-5 hours, with potential for working one or more shifts per day.
  • Determine the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers, and memorizing information, and sort packages accordingly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • No experience required; six (6) months of experience as a Package Handler with FedEx Ground preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to train multiple peer Package Handlers simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
  • Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
  • Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes, and unloading devices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Package Handlers operating switching equipment must have a valid driver's license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
Working Conditions
  • Will need to work in hot and cold temperatures.
  • Will need to work in an environment with loud noise.
  • Should be able to lift and carry between 10 and 50 pounds.
  • Travel should not be required.
