About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Ultrasound Tech II to join our team at UNC Health Care, a leading healthcare provider in the region. As an Ultrasound Imaging Specialist II, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our department.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic medical imaging procedures using ultrasound technology to expose complex diagnostic conditions. You will also communicate results of examinations to healthcare professionals and assist with invasive diagnostic techniques such as needle biopsies and aspirations under general or direct supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates any contra-indications to procedures, including medications, patient preparation, or ability/unwillingness to tolerate the procedure.
  • Performs ultrasound procedures under general or direct supervision, as defined by the procedure and/or physician.
  • Recognizes sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues, structures, and blood flow.
  • Analyzes sonography findings throughout the examination to provide comprehensive data for interpretation by radiologists.
  • Images structures while obtaining Doppler signal and recording images and Doppler shift recordings along with patient information for interpretation.
  • Advises radiologist and/or referring physician of examination results and provides preliminary information regarding diagnostic evaluation.
Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have:

  • A completion of a twelve (12) month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography / General Ultrasound or equivalent certificate program.
  • RDMS registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with certification in at least one modality specific to the department of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Three (3) years of experience as an Ultrasound Tech.
  • Ability to complete all departmental specific Sonographer competencies within twelve (12) months from date of hire, as well as complete all annual modality competencies and assigned continual education to maintain Ultrasound Tech II status.
Work Details

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $62,000 - $92,000 per year, depending on experience, and a benefits package that includes major holidays off, no call or weekends, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
