At Kaiser Permanente, we are seeking a skilled Optometrist Assistant Specialist to join our team in Beaverton, Oregon. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading not-for-profit, integrated health plan that serves over 12.7 million members across the country.
About the RoleWe are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to support doctors of optometry in providing patients with optimal levels of general optometric care. As an Optometrist Assistant Specialist, you will work closely with our medical team to assist with patient examinations, prepare clinical information, and perform various tasks to improve the efficiency of our doctors.
Responsibilities- Accurately record patient medical and visual history, review and prepare other clinical information for doctors.
- Take and record patient vitals when indicated in EMR, perform pre-testing, OCT, Visual Fields, and Diabetic Photos.
- Maintain accurate records and reports as instructed by the doctor, instill eye-drops when ordered, and assist in therapeutic procedures.
- Receive and process phone calls, manage patient communication, and triage accordingly.
- Manage all aspects of doctor's schedule, including booking appointments, and coordinate patient optometric care with other KP departments and services.
- Minimum one year back office clinical experience directly supporting a medical provider or completion of an accredited clinical assistant program.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Paraoptometric Technician Certificate within 24 months of hire from American Optometric Association or equivalent certifications.
- Demonstrated experience and competence with ophthalmic instruments, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to function effectively in a professional environment.
We offer a competitive salary range of $43,000 - $62,000 per year, depending on experience. Our benefits package includes comprehensive health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
