Job Summary

As a Field Service Welder/Line Bore Technician at Kirby-Smith Machinery, you will be responsible for performing complex repairs on heavy equipment, specializing in welding and line-bore work. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and evaluate problems with equipment, making repairs using established guidelines and flat rates.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies.
  • Plan methods and sequences of performing assigned repairs, ensuring efficient and safe work practices.
  • Model safe work habits and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Organize, clean, and maintain a safe work area and equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Contribute to departmental and product line goals, completing required paperwork efficiently and timely.
  • Attend training as specified by supervisor, promoting goodwill with customers and exhibiting excellent customer relations behaviors.

Requirements
  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years continuous machine shop experience, including experience with line boring processes and welding, preferably in a repair or equipment maintenance-related environment.
  • Ability to read complex hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Furnish and maintain a set of hand tools and any special tools required by the company.

Physical Requirements
  • Pushes/Pulls/Lifts/Carries up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold and wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors.
