Job Summary

Volt is seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Metrology Specialist to join our team in Milpitas, CA.

About the Role:

The Senior Quality Metrology Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing test methods and procedures to ensure product dimensional features conform to design specifications. This role involves working closely with the quality team to validate and inspect products from manufacturing and assembly processes, as well as maintaining measurement tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and utilize measurement methods and equipment to define product dimension features that meet design specifications.
  • Program and operate CMM, OGP, vision systems, and form tracking systems to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Design and implement measurement programs for use by quality inspectors and production personnel.
  • Perform inspections and testing of molded components and assemblies to verify conformance to design and configuration requirements.
  • Utilize inspection measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, drop indicators, thread gauges, plug gauges, and comparators.
  • Troubleshoot OGP and CMM program and system malfunctions.
  • Optimize inspection methods to expedite inspections and manage equipment capacity.
  • Train colleagues on vision system and CMM operation for parts being produced on the production floor.
  • Perform workmanship evaluations on plastic parts using microscopes.
  • Analyze measurement data and statistics to assess measurement methods and process capability.
  • Conduct Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GRR) studies to evaluate measurement accuracy.
  • Document and record test results and data on spreadsheets.
  • Identify and report non-conformances of products or processes.
Requirements:
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, including ISO/ASME GD&T.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical and process skills.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the function and business.
  • Highly skilled with ability to move between shifts/product lines.
  • Vision and/or Coordinate Measurement Machine certification preferred.
  • ASQ certification as CQT or CQI preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of computer programs.
  • 2-4 years related experience.
Compensation:

$28.97 per hour
