Job Description

The Converse County Detention Center is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Detention Deputy. This role involves performing protective service work to ensure the care and security of inmates at the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of inmates and staff
  • Enforce facility rules and regulations
  • Monitor and control inmate movement
  • Provide support to other law enforcement agencies as needed

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid Wyoming Driver's license
  • Must be at least 21 years of age prior to appointment
  • Must successfully complete Detention Officer Basic training at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy within the first year of employment

Salary and Benefits
  • $55,436.95 as probationary employee
  • $57,436.95 certification
  • Increased starting pay for pre-certified deputies up to $63,752.49

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift heavy items in excess of fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to defend oneself and protect others by using control skills and law enforcement equipment
  • Ability to walk and run variant distances
