Job Description:

Takeda Pharmaceutical is seeking a skilled Process Development Expert to join our team. As a key member of our Synthetic Molecule Process Development (SMPD) group, you will be responsible for developing robust, sustainable, and cost-effective processes for the manufacture of new synthetic molecule pharmaceuticals.

You will work closely with our Chemistry and Technology groups to apply enabling & emerging development and manufacturing technologies, and contribute to shaping our department's technology roadmap. Your expertise in process analytical technologies (PAT) and mathematical models will enable you to enhance process understanding and develop/ optimize/ scale-up and troubleshoot processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to drive technical/scientific strategy, mentor junior engineers, and lead complex programs within SMPD and across Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project and/or significant technical strategy and leverage technical skills as a resource/expert within the department
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective process engineering strategies
  • Drive process optimization initiatives to improve sustainability, process efficiency, yield, quality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Oversee process scale-up activities from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial-scale production
  • Initiate complex projects with extraordinary technical challenges and apply strong technical risk assessment skills

Requirements:

  • Degree in chemical engineering required; D. degree with 7+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience; MS degree with 13+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience; or BS degree with 15+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Extensive experience in building reaction kinetic models as well as process models preferred
  • Sound knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Previous experience working in a pilot plant a plus
