The Opportunity:

The Area Learning and Development Manager will partner with the Division and Enterprise Operations, Learning and Development Team, and the greater Talent Management COE to support the implementation of the Learning and Development Framework, Systems, and Tools across multiple sites and with multiple site leadership teams.

This role is responsible for ensuring that each site drives common learning systems, processes, and training standards through team members and leaders that support floor OJT training or training processes from their role.

The Area Learning and Development leader will be the key partner with the site to ensure that Orientation, Onboarding, Job Certification, and Development processes are continuously improving year over year.

This team member will need to work closely with floor OJT Trainers and SMEs to support knowledge building and will help improve learning solutions with those team members as needed.

They will also be the lead administrator for the LMS System and support other administrators that help manage the system processes day to day.

Impact on WestRock:

  • Improve local team performance through increasing skills and time to certification processes.
  • Ensure that skill gaps and forecast future skill needs prior to losing talent.
  • Drive training efficiencies across roles, saving unnecessary risk and reducing the time allotted for training.
  • Implement, manage, and improve site training processes in partnership with site leadership and floor trainers.
  • Partner with local operations teams to build out and implement on-the-job training for critical roles.
  • Support content/learning solution creation with SMEs.
  • Administer the Cornerstone Learning Management System, able to build, track, and assign local training.
  • Ensure training documentation is stored, linked, and utilized as part of the training process in a systemic way.
  • Implement trainer development processes and teams to ensure the best trainers are utilized during the training process.
  • Partner with safety and quality leaders to ensure that all required compliance trainings are tracked locally and refreshed as needed.
  • Ensure orientation and onboarding processes are effective and the employee experience is well-received at their sites.

  • Communication: Willingness to work on the floor and in a heavy manufacturing world to ensure that critical work processes can be documented and taught.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Learning and Training Experience: Prefer 3-5 years.
  • Industry knowledge or experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Forms.
  • Industry knowledge, Facilitation/Presentation Skills, Influencing, Partnering.
