Plastic Fabrication Specialist for Unconventional Projects

Copper River & The Native Village of Eyak are seeking a skilled Plastic Fabricator to join our team in support of a contract at a prominent defense facility in Georgia. As a Plastic Fabricator, you will play a critical role in planning, laying out, modifying, and fabricating one-of-a-kind items for experimental, developmental, or testing activities.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in fabricating unconventional plastic components, with extensive knowledge of composite materials and their machining characteristics. You will work closely with scientists and engineers to determine the most feasible materials and manufacturing processes for complex projects.
Key Responsibilities- Receive specifications for final products from supervisors and apply originality and ingenuity to devise changes to methods, materials, and processes to solve fabrication and design problems.
- Fabricate prototype models of missiles, wings, ship hulls, or full body casts, working to extremely close tolerances.
- Apply mathematics to calculate loads, fits, sizes, and weights not provided in instructions and blueprints to overcome design flaws and lay out more complex items.
- Make special jigs and fixtures for holding, machining, and curing irregularly shaped parts and set up and operate trade tools, equipment, and measuring instruments to fabricate complex components.
- Able to pass a government background check that includes fingerprints.
- Extensive knowledge of composite or plastic materials and their properties.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing less than 50 pounds.

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
