About the Position

The Department of Epidemiology at the School of Population Health at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a tenure-eligible epidemiology position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team of faculty and staff with active research programs in various areas of epidemiology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct scholarly research to enhance knowledge of epidemiology and contribute to the success of the Department and School.
  • Establish a programmatic research agenda with clear potential for external funding.
  • Mentor PhD and post-doctoral student scholarship.
  • Teach courses for the PhD training program in Epidemiology and/or for the MPH program.
  • Advise PhD and MPH students.
  • Serve on Departmental, School, and/or University committees as assigned.
  • Represent the Department in selected professional organizations and in a professional capacity to their field.
Requirements
  • Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Epidemiology or a related field.
  • Candidates will have a well-developed scholarly/research portfolio with clear evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external funding.
  • Candidates will also have experience in teaching and mentoring at the graduate-level.
  • All candidates must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Online teaching experience.
