Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Project Engineer to join our team at Emerson. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality control systems projects in the oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical activities on assigned projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to bridge technical gaps and ensure effective project execution.
  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and Emerson's quality management system.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and construction, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Support project management in tracking and updating deliverable status, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Act as technical lead for specific project scopes, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop and implement top-level system design, infrastructure, and system architecture.
  • Manage technical interfaces with customers, EPC contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure quality of project-related design, ensuring compliance with Emerson's quality management system.
  • Act as technical liaison between sub-teams, fields, and systems, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Prepare for, attend, and lead technical discussions at project meetings, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Ensure adherence to Emerson's and customer standards and guidelines for hardware and software.
  • Assist the project team with deliverables, tests, and other project-related activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • 10+ years of experience in control system engineering projects in the energy, oil and gas, chemical, or hybrid industries.
  • 5+ years of experience with project engineering responsibility.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically.
  • Legal US work authorization; sponsorship will not be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in scope definition and execution for Front End Loading (FEL) and Detailed Design phases.
  • Experience in coordinating engineering, construction, purchasing, and scheduling.
  • Self-motivated and innovative.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in DeltaV.
  • Experience in control systems modernization projects.
  • Experience in hot cutover planning and commissioning.
  • Experience in field instrumentation specification and signal wiring design.
