The Mechanical and Electrical Assembler is a critical role at Bauer Compressors that requires a unique blend of mechanical assembly operations and electrical component assembly to produce high-efficiency compressor systems.

This position reports directly to the Assembly Operations Supervisor/CIC and is responsible for:

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics to accurately place parts
  • Receiving verbal instructions and following directions to complete tasks
  • Installing and connecting electrical components, such as transformers, terminal boards, motors, and wiring harnesses, according to blueprints
  • Building wiring harnesses to required specifications and effectively running cabling and terminating ends
  • Communicating effectively with the immediate supervisor regarding the status of needed parts and assemblies
  • Utilizing specialized tooling and completing necessary certifications as required
  • Routing and connecting wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points
  • Installing finished assemblies or subassemblies as needed
  • Assembling units using standard hand and power tools, including air-powered tools, according to schematics, drawings, and diagrams
  • Performing belt alignments on gas, diesel, or electric motors
  • Hand bending and swaging tubing when required
  • Performing co-worker's job functions during absences within the department
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment in accordance with Lean 5S standards and adhering to company safety standards
  • Understanding the BOM change process and communicating change requirements throughout the build
  • Maintaining Change Documentation
  • Maintaining personal conduct in accordance with the employee handbook and safety manual
  • Staying up-to-date with Workmanship Standards and the ISO quality system
  • Being able to perform heavy lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Able to problem-solve using root-cause analysis and other methodologies
  • Regular and reliable attendance

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

High school education or equivalent

A minimum of two (2) years of related experience in mechanical assembly, point-to-point electrical wiring, and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics

Proficient in reading and interpreting standard measuring devices, such as tape measures, scales, squares, etc.

Able to follow directions and work independently

Able to identify and safely operate standard hand, power, and air tools

General understanding of piping, tubing (stainless steel) swaging, and belt alignment

Possess high-quality standards

Self-starter, able to resolve issues and research solutions

Ability to work under pressure and independently with minimal supervision in a constantly changing environment

Ability to communicate information clearly and effectively
