Nursing Care Specialist

Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is a community-focused healthcare provider with a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. We are currently seeking an experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse to join our team.
About the RoleThis is a full-time night shift position in the NICU, where you will play a vital role in providing quality care to newborns and their families. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans for neonates with various medical conditions.
Responsibilities- You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create, modify, and prioritize patient care plans as necessary
- You will recognize and report changes in patients' clinical conditions, identifying actual and potential health problems and their implications based on observed data and signs
- You will be proficient in interpreting diagnostic tests and follow through on lab results, non-stress tests, OCT scans, US, x-rays, vital signs, and other relevant assessments
- You will possess skills in Gestational/Age Maturity Rating Scale, Neonatal Abstinence Scoring, breast/bottle feeding, Glucose Protocol, bathing, daily care, oxygen setup, discharge teaching/planning, circumcision care/teaching, and PKU management
- You will identify subtle and early indicators of crisis situations and intervene promptly, recognizing patient changes when precipitous delivery is imminent and preparing for delivery
- You will be competent in managing equipment specific to the nursery, including radiant warmers, incubators, Bili lights, bili blankets, Spacelabs, Dinemapp vital signs machines, scales, and pulse oximeters
- You will demonstrate competency in emergency nursing involving different body systems within age-specific criteria
- You will respond to additional unit needs during crisis and coordinate neonatal transport
- You will document findings and communicate all pertinent information to interdisciplinary team members as appropriate
- You will provide education to patients/families/significant others, incorporating age-specific criteria and assessment of readiness to learn
- You will perform Point of Care procedures in a timely manner according to established policy and procedure, documenting required information and complying with quality control standards
- You will delegate tasks appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with job descriptions, license requirements, and standards of practice
- You will participate in developing other staff and affiliating students
- You will demonstrate willingness to cross-train and/or assist other areas of the hospital accepting assignments within your competency level, as needed
- You must hold a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited RN program; a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred
- You must have a current license as a Registered Nurse in Texas or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact
- You must possess current American Heart Association-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 90 days of hire
- You must have a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience
