GENERAL STATEMENT:

The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church, dedicated to the spiritual, emotional, and physical renewal of individuals.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary role of the Corps Program Assistant is to support the Corps Officers in the daily operations and ministry of the Corps, with a focus on youth and children's initiatives, as well as the development and management of life group ministries.

The Corps Program Assistant should demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, reflecting this dedication in their professional conduct and representation of the organization within the community.


REQUIRED WORK AND EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
A minimum of five years in a professional business environment.
Proficiency in desktop publishing, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Publisher.
Ability to engage effectively with both youth and adults.
Must be self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
Basic proficiency in operating office equipment (e.g., copiers, fax machines, etc.).
Ability to supervise staff and volunteers.
Must maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform office clerical tasks, including composing correspondence, managing emails, answering phones, filing, and copying.
Participate in weekly Congregational Life Meetings as a key member of the ministry team.
Assist the Family Ministry Coordinator with children and youth programs.
Support the planning, execution, and assessment of Salvation Army corps initiatives.
Help with seasonal activities and special events as required.
Collect and submit monthly statistical reports.
Actively engage in a Life Group.
Collaborate closely with corps officers to enhance understanding of corps leadership.
Oversee life group ministries, including recruitment, training, and support of life group leaders.
Articulate and communicate a clear vision for Life Groups.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Corps Officers.

Ability to function effectively under pressure.
Capable of interacting with others with courtesy and respect.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Maintain confidentiality and consistent attendance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The role involves sitting, standing, walking, and manual dexterity; ability to lift/carry 25-50 pounds; interaction with children.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:
The position requires effective verbal and written communication with colleagues, children, parents, and vendors.
May require visiting and working at various locations.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:
Utilizes general office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, and telephones.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work will be conducted indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks. Attendance at training and conferences may be necessary.

CLEARANCES:
The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history information check.
