Job Overview

The City of Philomath is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Building & Grounds Worker. This position serves as a key representative of Public Works, providing essential support to staff across various City facilities and parks.

Key Responsibilities

In this full-time role, you will engage in a variety of tasks including:

  • Performing janitorial services in City buildings, including restrooms in parks.
  • Responding to service requests from staff, such as assistance with furniture relocation or light bulb replacements.
  • Conducting basic assessments of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues, and coordinating with contractors as necessary.
  • Assisting with inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Maintaining the landscaping, including pruning and mowing duties.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary starting at $4,507.93, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The role comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in parks, facilities, janitorial, carpentry, or grounds maintenance work.
  • Possession of a valid Oregon state driver's license.
Skills and Knowledge

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Understanding of safety practices related to the work environment.
  • Experience in janitorial services within public or commercial settings.
  • Ability to operate various equipment safely and effectively.
  • Basic computer skills for job-related tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with coworkers and the public.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
