Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists in San Antonio. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing end-to-end care for our patients, from facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests to supporting services including admitting and discharging patients.
Key Responsibilities- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Triage emergency patients and monitor hospitalized patients.
- Perform patient laboratory tests and nursing care.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
- Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- 2+ years of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT).
- Exceptional technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and radiographic positioning, drug calculations, administer medications and fluids.
- Ability to handle, lift, and restrain animals (dogs, cats, pocket pets, etc.) and stand for long periods of time.
- Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
- Organizational and computer skills.
- Willingness to work weekends, overnights, and holidays.
