School Nurse

Amergis seeks a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in a school setting. As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for providing nursing care to students, collaborating with school personnel, and ensuring the health and well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate student care needs.
- Provide skilled nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders and individualized health plans.
- Perform interventions, treatments, and medication administration as outlined in the individualized health plan.
- Monitor and document the effectiveness of interventions, treatments, and medications.
- Coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agencies, and community resources to meet the needs of students.
- Communicate with school district personnel about student care plans and individualized health plans.
- Notify District School Nurse, Amergis Supervisor, parent, and physician as outlined in the individualized health plan regarding changes in student condition, physician notification to obtain necessary orders, and other critical information.
- Evaluate and assure student safety at all times.
- Maintain accuracy in student health records.
- Support professional practice by observing the Nurse Practice Act, Standards of Nursing Practice, Standards of Patient Care, and other relevant standards and laws.
- Graduate of an accredited registered, practical, or vocational nursing program.
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical or Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicing.
- One year of professional experience, preferred.
- Complies with accepted professional standards and practice.
- Willingness to participate in skill advancement, if applicable.
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program.
- Current CPR certification.
- PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training, as applicable to job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to effectively elicit and provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
