About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Heritage Archaeologist to join our team in Pensacola, FL. This full-time salaried position is part of our Offshore Wind Sector and will support offshore wind projects throughout the nation.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for processing and interpreting marine geophysical data, specializing in subsurface data interpretation and paleolandscape reconstruction for the identification of ancient submerged landform features.

Your expertise will also involve knowledge of the acquisition and processing of geoarchaeological cores from a marine environment, travel to various processing laboratories, and occasional monitoring on a marine survey contractor vessel during core acquisition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, coworkers, media, and the general public;
  • Complete work within budgetary assignments and project timelines;
  • Communicate project status and developments with sector leaders and project managers;
  • Assist with research design development and project-specific plans;
  • Support GIS analysis, data interpretation, and reporting for offshore wind projects;
  • Perform laboratory work and analyses specific to offshore wind;
  • Travel to non-local laboratories to process geoarchaeological cores;
  • Occasionally spend extended time as a Qualified Marine Archaeologist (QMA) monitor on an offshore vessel;
  • Uphold high reporting standards;
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Anthropology, History, Historical Archaeology, or a related field; experience in maritime archaeology with time in field, laboratory, and office;
  • Knowledge of sub-bottom profiler/seismic data acquisition, processing, and interpretation;
  • Experience with geophysical acquisition and processing software;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite;
  • Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulations;
  • Technical writing experience.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
