Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and respiratory therapy services to our patients.

• Provide respiratory therapy as prescribed by a physician, including preparing and operating respiratory care equipment.
• Ensure accurate and complete physician prescriptions, and clarify any discrepancies with the physician.
• Provide patient education and support to patients and their families.
• Perform vital capacity, inspiratory force, and peak flow measurements, and administer various oxygen concentrations, aerosol medication devices, and mechanical ventilators.
• Monitor oxygen-supported ambulation, perform chest physical therapy, and provide nasotracheal or artificial airway suctioning.
• Document all activities and patient outcomes/responses per policy and procedure.
• Maintain mechanical ventilators and respiratory therapy equipment, and troubleshoot mechanical problems.

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in New York State, and Current Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Certification in New York State.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience.
