We are seeking a skilled Wireless Communication Specialist to join our team in the State of Oregon. As a key member of our Wireless Communications Section, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, maintaining, and repairing diverse wireless two-way radio and microwave network systems.
Job Description:Information System Specialist 5 – Wireless Systems Specialist (Radio) Overview
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work as a Wireless Systems Specialist in Baker City, Oregon. You will support and coordinate communication systems for various customers, including state agencies, law enforcement, and emergency services.

Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate situations and resolve customer inquiries regarding wireless communication systems.
- Install, test, replace, or repair various cable types used in wireless networks.
- Review customer operational needs and requests, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Provide on-site training for customers, ensuring they receive the necessary support to utilize wireless communication systems effectively.
- Manage and coordinate the installation of mobile radio equipment, prioritizing tasks based on customer needs.
- Determine repair or replacement priorities for faulty equipment, collaborating with vendors to obtain necessary parts.
- Maintain peak operating condition of wireless systems and equipment, conducting regular inspections and troubleshooting.
- Travel extensively throughout the region, including remote locations, to install, repair, or upgrade wireless communication systems.
- Climb and work on towers and antenna structures up to 300 feet above ground, adhering to safety protocols.
- Drive safely in all weather conditions, performing routine vehicle checks to ensure safe operation.
- Lift heavy objects exceeding 70 pounds, following proper lifting techniques to avoid injury.
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A minimum of four years of experience in wireless communications or information systems, specifically in two-way radio and microwave systems.
- An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or completion of a two-year accredited vocational training program in information technology or a related field, plus two years of information systems experience in wireless systems.
- A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field may substitute for all previous requirements.
