Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Operating Systems Engineer II to join our team at AtlantiCare. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our in-house information systems that support core organizational functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all networked software and associated operating systems.
  • Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate, and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems.
  • Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals.
  • Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
  • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems.
  • Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system-related products and services.
  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams.
  • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems.
  • Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
  • Monitor and test system performance and prepare system performance statistics and reports.
  • Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
  • Develops and maintains backup routines ensuring reliable backups and restores.
  • Monitors system security and access, ensuring system integrity.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years' experience required or High School diploma with a minimum of 10 years' experience required.
  • MCSA Certification or higher preferred.
  • Ability to work in a structured environment and perform routine activities.
  • Excellent communication and team work skills.
  • Ability to understand and practice the AtlantiCare Values.
  • Adherence to AtlantiCare and AIT Policies and Procedures.
  • Follows and adheres to ITIL processes - Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management.
Work Environment

This position requires repetitive motion, fingering, hearing, pushing, reaching, and reading, seeing, speaking, standing, and walking a majority of the time. Spends time with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, copier, and telephone. Occasional driving also required.
