Job Title: Lead Structural Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Structural Design Engineer to join our team in Lone Tree, Colorado. As a key member of our Industrial and Water Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and preparing designs for structures, including research, system selection, analysis, and drawing preparation on projects ranging from moderate to large in size and complexity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and prepare designs for structures, including research, system selection, analysis, and drawing preparation.
  • Lead a team of Engineers and designers on projects, applying department and industry standards to oversee the preparation of calculations, project drawings, and project specifications.
  • Develop more mid-level employees for their skill development, reviewing their progress and results, and providing feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Leverage Building Information Modeling (BIM) to create plans, drawings, and details, performing technical risk assessments and technical checking on projects.
  • Provide insight and solutions to problems in the design to the team and leadership, incorporating the requirements of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), professional service agreements, or other contractual requirements.
  • Manage assigned projects for the Structural Discipline, coordinating with internal and external partners, including cross-discipline, construction, vendors, fabricators, and owners to address structural-related issues or concerns.
  • Recommend changes for standards or process improvements as needed, preparing, monitoring, and updating project plans, schedules, and budgets, including staffing needs, to project management and department management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural program from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program. Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer License is required.
  • At least 15 years' experience in structural engineering with design in both concrete and steel or subject matter expertise in Concrete design.
  • At least 7 years working in industrial, manufacturing, water/wastewater, or building markets. Water/wastewater design experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively with other team members and disciplines both verbally and written form.
  • Experience leading projects, where you are the go-to person for the structural aspects of the project, and you have managed project plans, schedules, and budgets for the structural designs for the project.
  • Experience leading and developing other engineers.
  • Functional in utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer operations.
  • Advanced design skills using engineering software: CSi SAP2000 and SAFE, RISA Suite.
  • Proficiency with BIM software: (Revit preferred), AutoCAD, and Navisworks. 3D modeling experience required.

  • Base Compensation: $150,000 - $185,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
