Victim Advocate Specialist

We are seeking a self-motivated and compassionate individual to work closely with victims of crime in Charleston County. The full-time Advocate will work under the supervision of the Victim Witness Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct services to victims of crimes, including notification of court hearings, court accompaniment, and filing victim compensation claims.
- Collect and report data, plan and coordinate meetings, and provide safety planning with victims.
- Work closely with law enforcement agencies, social service agencies, and non-profit organizations that provide services to crime victims.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and two years or more of related experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.
- Computer experience, including MS Office, WORD, or other commonly accepted word processing application.
- Mainframe data entry experience preferred.
- Excellent writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and court procedures.
- Ability to deal with highly emotional and stressful situations.
- Valid South Carolina driver's license required.
