Laundry Attendant

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for performing laundry duties, including washing, drying, and ironing residents' personal garments, linens, and community items. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Laundry resident linen, clothing, and terry according to individual service plans.
• Ensure finished laundry is neatly folded or hung and returned to residents' rooms.
• Operate electric hand iron and gas-fired ironing machine to finish dining room tablecloths, napkins, and resident laundry.
• Sort and process stained and contaminated linens as assigned.
• Condemn damaged or permanently stained community-owned linen and maintain records for review.
• Maintain clean laundry work area and equipment, and report malfunctions to the Environmental Services Manager.
• Coordinate transportation and tracking of garments, linen, and other items sent to outside laundries or dry cleaners.
• Maintain inventory of community linen and related laundry supplies.

Requirements:

• Excellent verbal skills and communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of basic operations of laundry equipment and chemical use.

Working Conditions:

• Requires ability to stand for extended periods and walk short and long distances.
• Must be able to lift and/or carry objects in excess of 40 pounds.
• Must be able to push 200 lbs. on a cart with casters.
• Requires significant amount of bending at the waist.
• Requires reaching above, below, and at shoulder length.
